I did some work in an old peoples home over 20 years ago , i only did 2 days but the experience has haunted me ever since.
The complete lack of respect and care given was shocking

I experienced that complete lack of respect when visiting my Granny, years ago, who was dying from Alzheimers in hospital.

I became a TU Shop Steward after working on a psychogeriatric ward during my first year of nurse training, ironically it was the only way to get things changed, we did.

This is an original and quite surprising image – I’m taken aback.
Must say there’s been some bad publicity surrounding old peeps homes in the past few years, which makes your blood boil – fortunately, my very -close-to-expiry nan, aged 97 is being very well (sedated) cared for in the home where she is ‘staying’ – the costs though are frankly staggering.
Great idea – good to see a photo that is confronting an issue – almost, dare I say, political. Great piece of work.
